![]() Factor in how common video doorbells and cloud based security cameras are becoming and add in video conferencing and VPN overhead for work from home on top of that. The average household is going to have at least one TV streaming content and/or some device to stream music (4k video requires roughly 25Mbps). The average person is going to have a phone, tablet, and computer. My household is not average by any means, but we have 4 people and average at least 50 devices on the network at any given time. I'll probably go with the TP Link when it is time to upgrade to Wifi 6 if I don't splurge on a Ruckus 650 or 750 just because of Netgear's terrible support. Despite my misgivings about Netgear, if you have to go with a mesh system, the Orbi is pretty much your best option (TP Link also has an option with a dedicated backhaul). The eero mesh routers are not the best choice either. I returned it and got an Arris which is what I should have done in the first place. Netgear support was useless and told me to contact my router manufacturer's support.then went no contact when I replied that they were the manufacturer of my Orbi. It would lock up whenever any router was connected to it (tried my Orbi, an Edgerouter X, a Cisco 2629 I have in my lab stack). I made the mistake of buying a netgear modem once. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
